Blockchain technology is gaining more and more supporters, also in the sport field. This time, Sacramento Kings, the NBA club, is reaching for this solution.

Cooperation with the blockchain platform

The club from California announced cooperation with the Blockparty blockchain platform in order to create an application to bet on the results of the meetings among fans. From the next season, fans will be able to use it. Blockparty will track the activity of Sacramento club fans, and the results of their predictions will be rewarded in a special wallet designed for the needs of the program.

Registration in the application is free. Tokens accumulated in it will be exchangeable for prizes, including participation in special events organized by the club, as well as club gadgets but not for money.

Vivek Ranadive, the president of Sacramento Kings, highlighted that the club is just getting acquainted with blockchain technology, but is already recognizing its main positives:

"The technology transforms the way business is conducted worldwide, ensuring secure transactions across multiple sectors and customers. We are committed to continuing to deliver the best fan experience and are excited to bring this transformative technology to life to award our loyal fans through experiences in a secure and transparent way.”

Cryptocurrencies in sport

For the Sacramento club, the cryptocurrency industry is nothing new. This is one of the first sports teams in the world that accepts Bitcoin payments since 2014. It's all thanks to cooperation with the BitPay platform.

Cryptocurrencies have their place in football as well, a sport which is undoubtedly the most popular sport in Europe. A few well-known clubs have established cooperation with a blockchain platform enabling fans to have a real impact on the club's activities, as well as providing them with many profits associated with it. Among them are such companies as Juventus FC, Paris Saint-Germain, and AS Roma.

In June it was also announced that the Portuguese Benfica, a Lisbon club, will start accepting payment in Bitcoin for match tickets and club gadgets.
