Manny Pacquiao Enters the Cryotocurrency Market

A well-known Filipino boxer, and recently a politician, Manny Pacquiao, decided to enter the cryptocurrency market with a personal token.

Investors' support

On September 1, the South China Morning Post announced that Pacquiao decided to launch his own token called Pac. The token was created with the support of private investors, such as former England football player Michael Owen and a member of the royal family of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed al-Nahyan.

The Pac token will appear on the Singapore's GCOX exchange (Global Crypto Offering Exchange), so that the fans of the boxer will be able to participate in its development. The head of the exchange, Jeffrey Lin, announces that this should be just the beginning of the development of the token's ecosystem.

Pacquiao is regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time. He won battles in eight different weight classes and hence set a current world record in this field. In July 2019, at the age of 40, he won the welterweight title by defeating Keith Thurman. In addition, Pacquiao is currently not only a senator in the Philippines, but also an actor and a vocalist.

Celebrities in the crypt industry

This is not the first time that we hear about celebrities engaging in the cryptocurrency market. Floyd Mayweather, who is Pacquiao's longtime competitor from the boxing ring and who promoted many ICOs, such as Stox and Hubii Network, is a great example here. When it comes to global show business stars, cryptocurrencies have so far attracted names such as Jamie Foxx, Gwyneth Paltrow, Snoop Dogg, and Richard Branson.
