Ethereum - price and prognosis

Ethereum is - surprisingly - not a cryptocurrency, but a software platform. The currency operating in this system is called Ether (ETH). It's the second most popular cryptocurrency in the world, right after Bitcoin. It was the first user of the blockchain technology, as well as of the smart contracts. Those smart contracts have had a great impact on the development of the Ethereum network. These features make Ethereum a cryptocurrency often acquired by traders. You want to be up-to-date with the current price, market cap and charts of Ethereum (or Ether)? You’re in the best place possible! The “Ethereum - price and prognosis” tab on our Tokeneo News website has all information necessary about the current Ethereum rate.

Etherum has been created in 2015 by a Canadian developer with Russian roots – Vitalik Buterin. Let us explain the confusing part of two different names – Ethereum and Ether. Ethereum is a platform, Ether is the proper digital currency. However, those two names can be used interchangeably. In the beginning, Ethereum wasn’t supposed to be a separate cryptocurrency, but an upgrade system for Bitcoin. Unfortunately, the crypto world hadn’t accepted Buterin’s idea, so in 2013 the developer had decided to create his own digital asset. In November of 2013, Ethereum’s whitepaper describing the technology had been published. The original team working on the platform/currency included: Vitalik Buterin, Mihai Alisie, Anthony Di Iorio and Charles Hoskinson. Ethereum’s ICO took place in July and August of 2014. The platform had raised over $18 million.

Ethereum's price wasn’t staggering at the beginning. When Ether began to be listed on the stock markets in 2016, it had reached only $8.13. The situation began to change in 2017 when the sudden increase in the value of the coin took place. The token had ended the year 2017 with a value of $722.14. However, it wasn’t the end - ETH reached ATH (all-time high - the highest result in history) in January 2018, when its price amounted to $1098.36. Later, it had dealt with a large collapse of the market. The year 2018 brought a bear market that didn’t spare Ethereum's price at any rate. At present, Ethereum's price remains at a stable level of $100 per coin. What's the prognosis for Ethereum? Analysts seem to be divided. In 2019, the coin will be upgraded to the Ethereum 2.0 version. For this reason, some predict that the value of ETH may amount to as much as $1,200 by the end of the year. However, there are also some not so optimistic opinions about ETH’s future. According to some traders, despite the temporary increase in Ethereum prices, it may fall quickly as it had at the turn of 2017 and 2018. It doesn’t change the fact, that Ethereum is still valued in the cryptocurrency world.
