The owner of BitMEX cryptocurrency exchange finances research related to cryptocurrencies, run by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The information was posted on May 28 on the blog of the exchange.

MIT supports the development of cryptocurrencies

HDR Global Trading Limited has made a donation to the MIT Digital Currency Initiative (DCI). The aim of the initiative is to carry out the research necessary to support the development of digital currency technology and blockchain technology. The funds will be spent in particular on the support of Bitcoin Core programmers: Wladimir van der Laan and Cory Fields. Sam Reed - CTO HDR Global Trading and co-founder of BitMEX, comments on the support as follows:

Protection of future generations

Another BitMEX's co-founder, Ben Delo, joined a group of more than two hundred billionaires, who are pledging to transfer most of their assets to charity. In his commitment, Delo emphasized, that he would use his assets to "protect the future generations and long-term prospects of humanity." Delo wants to use his resources in order to "understand challenges and opportunities created by new technologies in the coming century".
