Mastercard, has joined the ID2020 Alliance, a global company whose main goal is to create a digital identity for every person in the world by 2030. According to the company this would improve quality of life.
Mastercard joins ID2020
According to central bank research, around 1.1 billion people in the world do not have access to health, education or social care due to a lack of verifiable identity.
ID2020, which consists of several reputable organizations such as Microsoft, Accenture, Gavi, Rockefeller Foundation and others wants to solve this problem of humanity with blockchain technology.
ID2020 is working with some of the world's largest companies to deliver a digital ID by 2030 to everyone on the planet. The alliance has already conducted several pilot projects related to blockchain technology, and has recently worked with the Bangladeshi government on a digital identification program for vaccination in the region.
Digital ID could change people's opportunities
ID2020 Executive Director, Dakota Gruener believes that digital ID can be a powerful force that will change the social and economic opportunities of all people.
